Description: Perennial herbs.
Leaves radical and cauline, 3-foliolate, leaflets toothed; stipules paired, fused to base of petiole.
Flowers solitary, peduncles leaf-opposed. Epicalyx of 5 bracteoles, 3-toothed at apex, larger than calyx lobes. Calyx lobes 5. Petals 5, yellow. Stamens numerous. Carpels numerous on the dome-shaped receptacle.
Fruiting receptacle spongy, covered with many small achenes.
Distribution and occurrence: World: 6 species, India to eastern Asia. Australia: 1 species (naturalized).
