Genus Floydia Family Proteaceae

Description: Trees.

Leaves alternate, simple, margins entire. Conflorescences axillary, raceme-like or sometimes paniculate, peduncle of flower pairs short, bracts of individual flowers absent.

Flowers actinomorphic. Perianth tubular; tepals ± free and revolute at anthesis. Anthers on short free filaments, connective with a short terminal appendage. Hypogynous glands 4, free. Ovary sessile, glabrous; ovules 2; style filiform, dilated apically into a ± obovoid pollen presenter.

Fruit an indehiscent follicle, woody, outer shell grooved; seed solitary, large.


Distribution and occurrence: World: 1 species, endemic Australia. Australia: Qld & N.S.W.
