Genus Hedraianthera Family Celastraceae

Description: Shrubs or trees.

Leaves alternate, often distichous on lateral branches; stipules minute.

Flowers axillary or ramiflorous, in racemes or clusters or solitary; bisexual. Sepals 5, imbricate. Petals 5, imbricate. Stamens 5, inserted beneath margin of disc in each sinus. Disc 5-lobed. Ovary partly immersed in disc, 5-locular with numerous ovules per loculus; stigma sessile, with a central depression.

Fruit a bony capsule; seeds arillate.


Distribution and occurrence: World: 1 species, endemic Australia. Australia: 1 species, endemic.
