Genus Hedyscepe Family Arecaceae

Description: Arborescent, leaf scars often prominent on the trunk.

Leaves pinnately divided; leaf bases sheathing, forming a crownshaft, not persistent on trunk.

Inflorescence panicle-like. Flowers unisexual, usually 3 together, sessile, purple, the lateral ones male, the central one female. Perianth 3-merous. Ovary 1-locular.

Fruit ovoid - ellipsoid.
