Genus Notogrammitis Family Polypodiaceae

Description: Rhizome dorsiventral, short- to long-creeping, scales pale to medium brown or dark brown.

Simple, venation free, hydathodes sometimes present on vein endings on adaxial surface.

Sori superficial or slightly sunken on abaxial lamina surface, in two rows , circular to linear-elliptic. Sporangia glabrous


Distribution and occurrence: Twelve species, circumpolar in southern temperate regions.

The genera Notogrammitis and Grammitis are challenging to differentiate in a key. For this reason the keys to species under Grammitis covers both genera.
