Genus Pennantia Family Pennantiaceae

Description: Trees.

Leaves alternate, margins entire or toothed, domatia present.

Inflorescences terminal or axillary corymbose panicles. Flowers bisexual and/or unisexual and then plants dioecious, polygamous or some plants with bisexual flowers and some with male floers. Calyx rudimentary. Petals 5, free. Stamens 5, filaments free; anthers versatile. Ovary 1-locular; ovule solitary.

Fruit a drupe; seed solitary, not grooved.


Distribution and occurrence: World: 3 species, Australia, Norfolk Island, New Zealand. Australia: 1 species (endemic).
