Description: Trees or shrubs.

Flowers axillary in Australian species. Sepals ± valvate. Petals valvate, subequal. Stamens numerous. Carpels numerous, ovules 1 or 2.

Fruit stalked, mostly 1-seeded.


Distribution and occurrence: World: 120 species, tropical Africa, South-East Asia to SW Pacific. Australia: 5 species (4 species endemic), Qld, N.S.W., N.T.
