Description: Shrubs with rush-like branches.

Leaves alternate; usually reduced to filiform petioles; stipules small.

Flowers in racemes terminal or in the upper axils; bracts scarious; bracteoles absent. Calyx teeth short, ± equal. Petals clawed; standard circular; wings oblong; keel slightly curved. Stamens free. Ovary glabrous, ± sessile, style filiform with a small terminal stigma; ovules 2.

Pod obovoid, obliquely beaked, sessile, indehiscent; seeds usually solitary with an small annular aril.
