Amyema congener subsp. congener (Sieber ex Schult. & Schult.f.) Tiegh. APNI*

Description: Plant erect or spreading, glabrous except young vegetative parts and ovary shortly brown- or white-tomentose and sometimes a sparse scattered indumentum on inflorescence axes; external runners absent.

Leaves lanceolate to ovate or obovate, 4–11 cm long, 1–4 rarely 5.5 cm wide, apex rounded, base attenuate, leathery, venation obscure; petiole 3–8 mm long.

Inflorescence a pedunculate umbel of triads, central flower sessile, laterals pedicellate; peduncle 10–35 mm long; rays of umbel 3–5, 5–8 mm long; pedicels of lateral flowers 2–3 mm long, rays of umbel and pedicels incurved, bracts c. 1 mm long, usually acute. Corolla 16–35 mm long, 5-merous, clavate, acute, green or yellow, reddish at base.

Fruit ellipsoidal to ± globose, c. 8 mm long.

Flowering: throughout year.

Distribution and occurrence: Commonly parasitic on species of Acacia and Casuarinaceae, but also frequent on other Loranthaceae and exotic trees; coastal districts north from Merimbula, inland to upper Hunter Valley.
