Myrsine subsessilis subsp. subsessilis F.Muell. APNI*

Description: Shrub or small tree to 4 m tall.

Petiole 1 -3 mm long, rarely more, usually channelled on the adaxial surface, dark pink to reddish colour extending onto the midrib. Lamina elliptic to lanceolate, somewhat asymmetrical, 6.2–14.2 cm long, 1.8–4.4 cm wide, discolorous, adaxial surface dull green, reddish when young, adaxial surface coriaceous, veins curving up towards the margins, midvein prominent on the abaxial surface.

Fascicles of 2–9(-21) flowers , chiefly borne on older wood below the leaves., peduncles 1–2 mm long; floral bracts 1 mm; pedicels 2–5 mm. Flowers 5-merous; corolla creamy green to white to dull yellow, dusty pink, even brownish; calyx cup-shaped; corolla of staminate flowers pyriform to ovoid, lobes 0.75–1.5 mm long, numerous red glands; corolla of pistillate flowers campanulate, lobes spreading.

Fruits globular (3-)4–6 x 5–7 mm, black when mature.
