Oplismenus undulatifolius var. mollis Domin APNI*

Description: Weak trailing perennial to c. 0.3 m high.

Leaves with ligule c. 3 mm long, membranous at the base, dividing into cilia; blade 4–18 mm wide, densely pubescent, midrib narrow, whitish on the lower surface, 10–15 fine nerves either side of it.

Panicle with racemes 1–1.5 cm long, reduced to small clusters of spikelets, spikelets and their awns divergently spreading. Spikelets 3–4 mm long, lanceolate, scarcely compressed. Lower glume shorter than the spikelet, 5–7-nerved, midnerve continues as a stiff, smooth awn to 4 times as long as the spikelet; upper broader and shorter, terminating in a short awn as long as the glume. Lower lemma the length of the spikelet, embracing the fertile floret, 9-nerved, awn short, 1 mm long; palea shorter than the lemma. Upper lemma c. 3 mm long.


Flowering: most of the year.

Distribution and occurrence: Grows in shady coastal forest; north from Coffs Harbour.
