Prostanthera cryptandroides subsp. cryptandroides A.Cunn. ex Benth. APNI*

Description: Low divaricate shrub, 0.5–2 m high, strongly aromatic, viscid; branches usually not distinctly hairy and not appearing glandular because stalked glands <0.02 mm long.

Leaves with lamina narrow-ovate, 6–9 mm long, 2–3 mm wide; apex obtuse; base cuneate to obtuse; margins with 3 or 4 obtuse lobes on either side; surfaces light green, glabrous or with sparse gland-tipped hairs, viscid; petiole 0–1 mm long.

Flowers axillary; bracteoles leafy, not persistent, 4–5 mm long. Calyx 6–7 mm long; tube 3–4 mm long; upper lobe 2–3 mm long, not or only slightly enlarged in fruit. Corolla 11–15 mm long, lilac to mauve. Anthers with appendage c. 1.5 mm long.

Flowering: September– April

Distribution and occurrence: Grows chiefly in the Lithgow to Sandy Hollow districts.

Grows in dry sclerophyll forest, often in rocky sites.
