Description: Slender shrub to 1.5 m high; branches prominently angled.

Leaves narrow- to broad-elliptic, 3–6 cm long, 4–13 mm wide, apex acute to obtuse, apiculate; sessile.

Flowers axillary; pedicel 5–13 mm long, with 2 pairs of minute, basal, blunt triangular bracteoles. Sepals 3–3.5 mm long, glabrous, finely ciliate. Petals elliptic, 12–20 mm long, pink to purple or rarely white. Stamens cohering by their prominently pilose margins, apices spreading during anthesis.

Cocci ± erect, c. 7 mm long.
