Description: Annual herb, branching at basal and upper nodes, to 35 cm long, usually with stalked glandular hairs on stems and leaves.

Leaves basal and cauline, 10–60 mm long, glabrous or with hairs; mostly 1- or 2-pinnatisect

Involucre 5.3–10.6 mm diam.; bracts 12–17, rhombic, obovate or ovate, 3.4–5.7 mm long, glabrous, sterome herbaceous, margins and apices hyaline, often purplish. Ray florets 11–18, mauve, pink, blue rarely white, with 4 veins or more. Disc florets 65–300, yellow. Stamens 5.

Achenes amy be 3- or 4- faced, 1.9–3.0 mm long, brown, longitudinal ridges barely to distinctly swollen, egalndular hairs of variable density. Pappus crown-like.


Flowering: Flowers April to November.

Distribution and occurrence: North western NSW, Queensland and Western Australia.

Typically recorded from open, often Acacia dominated arid shrubland, and growing in red-brown loam.
