Cycads in Tropical Australia

Tropical Australia is a major centre of radiation in the genus Cycas (Cycadaceae), with 25 species, mostly in monsoon woodlands and forests with pronounced and long dry spells. A single species each of Lepidozamia and Macrozamia (Zamiaceae) also occur here, and the two Bowenia (Boweniaceeae) are endemic in this region.
