Distribution and habitat: Mexico - Puebla
Conservation status: 1997 IUCN Red List of Threatened Plants category E.
Description:
Plants arborescent. Stem 1 m tall, 25 cm diam.
Leaves blue or blue-green, dull, 70-90 cm long, flat (not keeled) in
section (opposing leaflets inserted at 180° on rachis), with 100-140
leaflets; basal leaflets not reducing to spines, petiole spine-free for 12-15 cm.
Leaflets linear, concolorous, not falcate, inserted at 30-40°
to rachis, not overlapping; margins recurved, entire or dentate; median leaflets
8-10 cm long, 4-5 mm wide.
Pollen cones narrowly ovoid, pale brown, 30-40 cm long, 9-10 cm diam.
Seed cones ovoid, pale brown, 30-40 cm long, 20-25 cm diam.
Seeds subglobose, 30-40 mm long, 30-40 mm wide, sarcotesta cream or
white.
