- TYPE: Tasmania, Grass Tree Hill, near Hobart, R.C. Gunn (1100), 27 Nov 1840 (lecto NSW; here designated). Cited as "T. - Grass - tree Hill, near Hobart; Sassafras Valley, Risdon, Mt. Wellington (common)." This specimen is one of a suite from the primary (or type) locality cited by Blakely. This specimen is designated Lectotype in order to preserve currently accepted nomenclatural usage, as many of the other specimens corresponding to Blakely's citations are of hybrid origin.
