History of PlantNET

The PlantNET system provides access to data resulting from research work by Scientific staff of the National Herbarium of New South Wales.

In 1992, Jacobs & Pickard (1981) was converted to Census, an electronic texpress database (developed by Gary Chapple and Ken Hill)

Major redesign of PlantNET based around the new FloraOnline module designed by Ken Hill (NSW). Expansion of the search options in NSWplants, incorporating the old Plants@Risk module.

Data exported from NSW Collections database (KE EMu Software) to searchable files, with collection records spatially index using a Postgres database (developed by Ken Hill).

Concept of interactive identification keys and full descriptions introduced in the FloraOnline module (developed by Ken Hill).

Spatially indexed data available for distribution searches (developed by Ken Hill).
