How to Use PlantNET

PlantNET consists of several modules that provide information of the plants of New South Wales.

1. SEARCH the following modules for information on plant by:
  1. NAMES: both accepted and unaccepted, both scientific, common (vernacular) names and by groups
  2. LOCATION: using botanical regions of the National Herbarium of New South Wales
  • WeedAlert - lists new distributional records of introduced plants to New South Wales in the last month, last three months or last 12 months

2. ADVANCED SEARCHES, IDENTIFICATION TOOLS, DESCRIPTIONS & IMAGES

More specialised modules enable Users to:

  1. Obtain lists of plants occurring in selected areas or define their own areas of interest, based on latitude/longitude coordinates
  2. Use identification keys for unknown plants of selected or defined areas of New South Wales
  3. View descriptions, notes on distribution, other information, images

These modules include:

  • FloraOnline - Advanced area and botanical searches, keys to unknown plants, descriptions, images, distribution maps based on herbarium records, and other facts
