Description: Differs from the nominal variety by a lower cell length to breadth ratio, a narrower isthmus, shorter spines and by a higher number of spines tipping each of the cell processes. Cell length 54–68um, cell breadth 60–71um, brreadth of isthmus 15–18um. (Coesel & Dingley 2005)
