Genus Tripladenia Family Colchicaceae

Description: Erect herbs with simple stems arising from a knotty rhizome bearing scale-like cataphylls; roots fibrous.

Leaves alternate, 2-ranked, sessile.

Flowers solitary or several in pedunculate cymes, in upper leaf axils. Tepals free, equal, articulated at base, basal nectaries present as paired appendages. Stamens 6; filaments expanded at base. Ovary 3-locular; ovules in 2 rows per loculus; seeds many.
