Synonyms: Desmodium heterocarpon (L.) DC. var. heterocarpon APNI*

Description: Procumbent to ascending subshrub or herb to c. 1.8 m high; stems with spreading or appressed hairs or ± glabrous.

Leaves 3-foliolate; leaflets oblong or elliptic to ± circular, 1.3–7 cm long, 8–45 mm wide, apex obtuse to acute, upper surface with a few appressed hairs, lower surface appressed-hairy; petiole 10–35 mm long; stipules 7–15 mm long.

Racemes 3–15 cm long, 10–100-flowered; pedicels 2–5 mm long. Flowers mostly 4–6 mm long, white to violet-blue.

Pod 10–30 mm long, ± glabrous to covered with hooked hairs; articles 2–8, each c. 3 mm long.
