Pomaderris gilmourii var. gilmourii N.G.Walsh APNI*

Description: Shrub to 4 m high, young stems with ± appressed simple or clustered hairs. Indumentum on lower surface of leaves, petioles, branchlets, etc. with a dense superficial layer of appressed simple ± straight hairs, surfaces appearing shiny.

Leaves ± elliptic or occasionally obovate, 0.5–3.5 cm long, 3–12 mm wide, upper surface glabrous, sometimes blackish when dried; lower surface with a short greyish tomentum, all hairs ± the same length, secondary veins distinct, 3- 6 pairs; leaf margins thickened and glabrous, apparent as a distinct border on lower surface.

Flowers creamish to yellow, in terminal panicles shorter than the leaves, buds silvery. Sepals c. 1.5 mm long, cream on inner surface, not persistent in fruit. Petals absent. Style glabrous above point of division.

Capsule and hypanthium with appressed simple hairs.

On skeletal rhyolite outcrops, in open shrubland or forest.
