Description: Branchlets, young leaves, petioles, peduncles, pedicels and clayx lobes minutely hairy. Stipules usually very conspicuous with a long, 9.0 mm long, broad, almost leaf-like, folded lobe at apex.

Petioles 0.1–0.3 cm long, leaf blades elliptic, ovate or suborbicular, 1.5–5 cm long, 0.6–2.5 wide, apex and base obtuse or subacute or with apex slightly rounded and both surfaces glabrous or finely hairy towards the base.

2 forms are recognised based on the variability of the leaves and inflorescences. The form Psydrax odorata subsp. buxifolia (Benth.) ST. Reynolds & R.F. Hend. f. buxifolia is present in NSW and the form Psydrax odorata subsp. buxifolia (Benth.) ST. Reynolds & R.F. Hend. f. parviflorifra and is only known from Araucaria microphyll vine forests on Mt Alford, Moreton District, Queensland.
