Description: Herb 30–70 cm high.

Basal leaves 2 times ternately compound, 10–30 cm long, much shorter than the stems;primary petiolules 22–60 mm long, pilose, rarely glabrous.

Flowers nodding; sepals mostly blue or purple, lance-ovate 15–25 mm long, 8–12 mm wide; petals with spurs mostly blue or purple, hooked, 14–22 mm long; stamens 9–13 mm long.

Follicles 15–25 mm long; beak 7–15 mm long.
