Coffea arabica L. APNI*

Description: Shrub or small tree to c. 5 m tall. Stem nodes somewhat swollen.

Leaves glossy; lamina elliptic to broadly elliptic or elliptic-oblong, 7–18 cm long, 3–7.5 cm wide; base acute to obtuse; apex acuminate; venation with 7–10 primary veins on each side of midrib, usually with obscure domatia in their axils beneath; stipules triangular, 4–8 mm long, apex acute, mucronate.

Flowers in dense, axillary, 2–10-flowered, subsessile clusters, fragrant. Calyx usually a rim. Corolla white; tube c. 1 cm long; lobes 1–1.5 cm long.

Fruit oblong-ellipsoidal, sometimes subglobose, 1–2 cm long, red.
