Description: Evergreen shrub less than 1 m high, in some forms semiprostrate with arching recurved branches, becoming very thick and woody with age.

Leaves narrow-elliptic, obovate or oblong, mostly 6–15 mm long, 2–4 mm wide, apex rounded-obtuse, upper surface glossy green, lower surface whitish; petiole 1–2.5 mm long.

Flowers white, 8–10 mm across, solitary or rarely in 2- or 3-flowered clusters. Pome globose, c. 6 mm diam., red.


Distribution and occurrence: Cultivated, doubtfully naturalized. Native of the Himalayas.
