Cryptandra armata C.T.White & Francis APNI*

Description: Divaricate spinescent shrub up to c. 1.5 m high; lateral branchlets more or less horizontal, 0.2–2 cm long, ending in a spinose tip.

Leaves clustered at base, or scattered along lower part of lateral branchlets; petiole c. 0.5 mm long; lamina narrowly oblong or narrowly obovate, 2–5 mm long, 0.5–1.5 mm wide, glabrous or occasionally with few silky appressed hairs on lower midrib; base cuneate to truncate; marhin revolute, usually concealing midrib; apex obtuse.

Flowers clustered on lateral branchlets, white or cream-coloured; bracts inserted at base of calyx, up to 1 mm long, very broad. Calyx with tube urceolate, c. 3 mm long; lobes 1.5–5 mm long, all densely covered with long white woolly hairs. Petals minute, not reflexed.

Grows in Callitris-Eucalyptus woodland in gravelly sandy soil.
