Florestina tripteris DC. APNI* Description: Annual herbs, 10–60 cm high; stems erect, nearly glabrescent to hairy.
Leaves simple and compound, mostly 2–5 cm long, 1–2 cm wide, lower ones simple and opposite, upper ones trifoliate and alternate, leaflets ovate, entire, apex acute, faces sparsely to moderately scabrous, usually gland-dotted; petiole 1–3 cm long.
Inflorescence a subcorymbose cyme. Heads c. 4–7 mm diam. Phyllaries 8–14, green 4–6 mm long, with white membranous margins (or rarely somewhat reddish). Disk florets 10–25, white 4–5 mm long; tube glandular-pubescent.
Achenes 2.5–6 mm long, densely to sparsely pubescent with appressed, curled hairs; pappus of 8–10 scales, 0.3–2 mm long, apex rounded to truncate.
Distribution and occurrence: A weed of disturbed sites. Native of southern and south-central Texas, and northern and eastern Mexico.
