Description: Annual herb, ± glabrous but sparsely hairy with at least some of the hairs on stem and calyx hooked.

Leaves oblong-elliptic to linear or obovate, 2–3 mm long, margins recurved or flat, ± glabrous, lower surface sometimes minutely pubescent.

Flowers in irregular dichasia; bracts and bracteoles similar to leaves. Calyx 5–6 mm long, almost glabrous or with scattered spreading or hooked hairs, especially near base. Petals 8–9 mm long. Stamens 6–8. Style 3- or 4-branched, stigmas linear to narrow club-shaped.


Flowering: autumn.

Distribution and occurrence: Grows on heavy soils.
