Glaucium flavum Crantz APNI*

Description: Erect or spreading biennial to 1 m high.

Leaves to c. 20 cm long, pinnately lobed, the lobes toothed, roughly hairy; lower leaves shortly petiolate, upper leaves sessile.

Petals 2–3 cm long, yellow or orange, readily shed.

Capsule 10–25 cm long; seeds numerous.


Flowering: summer.

Distribution and occurrence: uncommon minor weed. Native of c. Europe.
