Synonyms: Agrostis meionectes Vickery APNI*

Description: Densely tufted annual to 0.2 m high; culms slender, terete, c. 3-noded above the base.

Leaves with sheath becoming slightly loose upwards, thin, striate; ligule acute or acuminate or at length laciniate, to 5 mm long; blade flat or folded, thin, acuminate, finely striate, 0.4–1.8 mm wide.

Panicle shortly exserted, open, pyramidal at maturity, ± divergently spreading, c. 10 cm long. Spikelets slender, c. 2 mm long, purplish to straw-coloured. Glumes persistent, divergent, subequal or the lower glume longer, acute to acuminate. Lemma oblong-lanceolate, narrowly truncate and erose with 4 minute teeth, 2–2.5 mm long. Palea thin and hyaline.


Flowering: Summer.

Distribution and occurrence: Grows in alpine and subalpine, moist, mossy sites; south from Cooma.
