Description: Decumbent to prostrate stoloniferous annual to 60 cm high.

Leaves with ligule a row of hairs 0.75 mm long; blade to 4.5 cm long, to 5.5 mm wide, pubescent with tubercle-based hairs or glabrous.

Inflorescence at length long exserted, erect, 2–7.5 cm long with 2–12 lateral branches; main axis flattened or triquetrous, glabrous or scabrous on the angles; pedicels c. 1 mm long. Spikelets elliptic to lanceolate, c. 2.5 mm long, 1 mm broad. Lower glume < 0.5 mm long, encircling the base of the spikelet, truncate with an acute apex, 1-nerved, glabrous, membranous; upper glume 5-nerved, sparsely pubescent. Lower lemma similar to the upper glume, 2-keeled; palea thinly membranous, subequalling the spikelet, acute, empty. Fertile lemma 1.75 mm long, elliptic, obtuse, smooth, shining, glabrous; the palea equat to the lemma though slightly narrower.
