Oxalis flava L. APNI*

Description: Herb with stem hardly exserted; rhizome to 10 cm long, with several brown stem-clasping scales at the top; bulbs ovoid, 1–2 cm long, outer surface mid-brown.

Leaves 3–10, 4–7-foliolate; leaflets narrow-elliptic to linear, 10–25 mm long, 2–7 mm wide, often conduplicate; petiole 2–6 cm long; stipules conspicuous, with an obtuse apical lobe.

Inflorescences 1-flowered. Petals 20–30 mm long, yellow, sometimes with purple margin.

Fruit not known in Aust.


Flowering: April–September

Distribution and occurrence: Probably a garden escape, recorded for the Albury district. Native of S Afr.
