Panicum lachnophyllum Benth. APNI*

Description: Decumbent, somewhat stoloniferous perennial, to 0.3 m high, the innovations extravaginal.

Leaves with sheath with obscurely tubercle-based hairs denser on the margins; ligule to 0.3 mm long; blade to 9 mm wide, subpetiolate, usually with short, tubercle-based hairs.

Panicle contracted, 2–7 cm long, with few branches bearing shortly pedicellate spikelets; pedicels 0.5–2 mm long. Spikelets 2–2.5 mm long, obtuse to acute, glabrous. Lower glume c. 25% the length of the spikelet, acute to obtuse, faintly 1- or 2-nerved; upper the shape and size of the spikelet, obscurely 5-nerved. Lower lemma sterile, similar to the upper glume, palea absent. Upper lemma obscurely striolate, smooth, 1.75–2 mm long, slightly constricted at the base, with a few, loose, crinkled hairs on the sides and near the apex.
