Description: Shrub to small tree to c. 7 m high.

Leaves opposite; lamina elliptic to narrow-elliptic or oblanceolate, 4–15 cm long, 1–6 cm wide, apex acuminate to obtuse, lamina thin-textured, ± glossy, glabrous, main lateral veins prominent; petiole 5–20 mm long; stipules triangular, prominent.

Inflorescences many-flowered, terminal above uppermost leaves, subtended by fused bracts. Calyx 1.5–2 mm long. Corolla white, tube 10–15 mm long, lobes 5–8 mm long. Style twice the length of corolla tube.

Fruit globose, 6–8 mm diam., black, crowned by persistent calyx.


Flowering: spring.

Distribution and occurrence: Grows in dry rainforest, north from the McPherson Ra.
