Physalis angulata L. APNI* Synonyms: Physalis minima sensu Symon non L. APNI*
Description: Erect shrub to 90 cm high, glabrous or sparsely pubescent with simple hairs.
Leaves 1 or 2 per node, ovate to broadly ovate; 4–9 cm long and 2–4.5 cm wide, irregularly toothed or with 2 or more shallow angular lobes; base cuneate to broadly cuneate; apex acute to acuminate; petiole 0.5–7 cm long.
Pedicels 6–12 mm long. Calyx 4–5 mm long; lobes triangular, 2–2.5 mm long. Corolla 5-angled, 7–8 mm long, pale yellow with five relatively large brownish blotches. Anthers 1.5–2.5 mm long. Style 4–5 mm long. Fruiting pedicel 12–25 mm long; fruiting calyx angular in section with 5 major and 5 minor veins, 21–32 mm long, pale green when dry.
Berry 8–14 mm diam.
Flowering: Spring and summer.
Distribution and occurrence: Scattered weed of disturbed areas.
