Description: Erect dioecious shrub to 3 m high, stems slender, glabrous.
Leaves narrow-elliptic, usually 5–40 mm long, 1–3 mm wide.
Flowers in bracteate heads, terminal; peduncle 2–20 mm long. Bracts 2 or 4, 3–18 mm long, 1–3 mm wide, not persistent. Flowers greenish yellow; male head with 4–24 flowers, each c. 5 mm long; female heads with 3–16 flowers, each c. 3 mm long.
Distribution and occurrence: Widespread in woodland and open forest, north from Condobolin district; toxic to stock.
