Polygala linariifolia Willd. APNI*

Description: Annual or perennial herb with ± ascending branches, to 20 cm high; stems with curled or straight hairs.

Leaves variable, obovate, linear-oblong or narrow-elliptic, 5–45 mm long, 1–10 mm wide, ± sparsely hairy.

Racemes lateral, 1–9 cm long, pedicels 2–6 mm long. Flowers 3–5 mm long, purplish blue or yellow. Outer sepals 1–2 mm long; wing sepals 3–4 mm long. Keel about as long as or longer than the lateral petals, with 2 small forked appendages.

Capsule broad-oblong, 3–4 mm long.


Flowering: September–February

Distribution and occurrence: Grows in dry sclerophyll communities from Warialda area to Weebah gate on the Qld border.
NSW subdivisions: NC, NWS, NWP, NFWP
Other Australian states: Qld N.T. W.A.
Threatened species: NSW BCA: Endangered

Specimens from near Jerilderie and Conargo (SWP) may belong here; however, the inflorescences are few-flowered and the leaves are either ± glabrous or densely hairy.
