Description: Shrub or small tree to 6 m high, monoecious.

Leaves petiolate; petiole 0.5–3(-6) cm long; lamina narrowly ovate to ovate, (3-)6–9(-15) cm long, (1.5-)2.5–4(-5) cm wide, base broadly rounded-cuneate, margin serrate, apex acute to slightly acuminate, primary veins palmate, 3, lower surface densely hairy with white hairs between veins.

Inflorescence with flowers in small, sessile, axillary clusteres. Male flowers 4-merous; perianth lobes 1 mm long, united at base, hairy. Female flowers with perianth ellipsoidal, hairy; style 2–4 mm long.


Flowering: November– April

Distribution and occurrence: Lord Howe Island.

Abundant in moist forests on southern parts of Island.
