Salix glaucophylloides Fernald APNI*

Description: Shrub or shrubby tree 1–5 m high; twigs glabrous, yellow-green; buds yellow.

Leaves variable, broad-lanceolate, oblong, obovate or elliptic, 5–12 cm long, 25–60 mm wide, margins glandular-crenate to regularly toothed; unequal at the base, glabrous, glossy green above, glaucous below.

Catkins female, cylindrical on leafy shoots, sericeous 4–8 cm long, releasing billows of white cotton seed in Oct.–Nov.


Distribution and occurrence: spreading at Scrivener Dam at Canberra, probably vegetatively. (Spreading aggressively along streams in N.Z. where it was planted). Native of N America.
