Description: Shrub to 1.5 m high, densely stellate-hairy; prickles usually absent, occasionally present on branches.
Leaves elliptic to lanceolate or rarely ovate, 3–6 cm long, 1.5–2.5 cm wide, margins entire; slightly discolorous, both surfaces stellate-pubescent; petiole 0.5–1 cm long.
Inflorescences 1–4-flowered; peduncle to 5 mm long; pedicels ca 5 mm long. Calyx 5–8 mm long; lobes 2–5 mm long. Corolla stellate, shallowly incised, 15–25 mm diam., purple-blue.
Berry 5–8 mm diam., bright red, ± covered by calyx lobes.
Flowering: chiefly spring–summer.
Distribution and occurrence: Grows in dry sclerophyll forest on stony soils in the Gibraltar Range and Maryland National Parks and in Queensland.
