Description: Erect or decumbent shrub to 1 m high.
Leaves laterally compressed, 5–12 mm long.
Flowers in clusters of 2–4, rarely 6; peduncles ≤ 1 mm long; bracts leaf-like or triangular and scarious, 3–8 mm long; bracteoles oblong or lanceolate, pink or purple-red, persisting until after anthesis. Hypanthium 5–9 mm long, 1–2 mm diam., usually papillate between ribs. Style red.
Flowering: spring to early summer.
Distribution and occurrence: Grows in heath, from Blue Mtns to Nerriga and Tomerang.
