Genus Aegopodium Family Apiaceae

Description: Perennial herbs with far-creeping rhizome.

Leaves 1–2-ternately divided, the segments broad; petiole sheathing at base.

Inflorescence a terminal compound umbel; bracts and bracteoles absent; rays ± equal. Flowers bisexual, white. Sepals small. Petals obcordate, the apex inflexed. Stylopodium broadly conical.

Fruit ovoid, laterally compressed; carpophore persistent; mericarps with 5 slender ribs.


Distribution and occurrence: World: 5 species, Europe & temperate Asia. Australia: 1 species (naturalized).
