Genus Aphanopetalum Family Aphanopetalaceae

Description: Climbing or straggling shrubs.

Leaves simple; stipules small or absent.

Flowers axillary, solitary or in cymes. Calyx lobes 4, small at first but enlarging in fruit. Petals minute or absent. Stamens 8. Ovary ± half-inferior, 4-locular, 1 ovule in each loculus.

Fruit a 1-seeded nut surrounded by persistent calyx.
