Genus Coatesia Family Rutaceae

Description: Small trees, with simple hairs, unarmed.

Leaves alternate, simple, margins entire.

Inflorescences terminal or terminal and axillary in the upper axils, paniculate. Flowers bisexual, 5-merous. Sepals connate at base. Petals imbricate, free, not persistent in fruit. Stamens 5, free, divergent, opposite the sepals. Ovary 5-locular; carpels lacking sterile apices; styles fused, arising terminally from carpels; stigma punctiform; ovules 2 per locule.

Fruit of 1–5 cocci, basally connate; cocci not transversely ridged, rounded; seeds expelled from dehiscing cocci, very shiny, dark brown, lustrous.


Distribution and occurrence: A monotypic genus endemic to Australia; found in Qld and N.S.W.
