Description: Rhizomatous, underground, mycoheterotroph.
Leaves totally lacking
Inflorescence to 25 cm tall,bearing sparse to dense short glandular hairs, with several paler sterile bracts bearing conspicuous red-brown veins. Flowers 2 to 7, each with a closely sheathing elliptical fertile bract, flowers to around 5.5 mm long, opening or not, segments creamy-brown externally with whitish distal margins, generally with darker median stripe. Labellum sessile, margins incurved, enclosed by dorsal sepal, base pouched and with fleshy hairs. Ovary glandular hairy.
Distribution and occurrence: Australia and New Zealand. Warm temperate and subtropical rainforest.
