Genus Enchylaena Family Chenopodiaceae

Description: Small shrubs. Branches slender, striate.

Leaves alternate, entire, sessile or almost so.

Flowers solitary, axillary, sessile, bisexual, 5-partite. Perianth cup-shaped, 5-lobed with a deep radicular slit.

Fruiting perianth fused, succulent with a hardened inner layer: seed horizontal; embryo annular; perisperm scanty.


Distribution and occurrence: World: 2 species, endemic Australia. Australia: all mainland States.
