Genus Ethulia Family Asteraceae

Description: Branched herbs.

Leaves alternate, entire or toothed.

Inflorescence of heads in much-branched corymbs or panicles; heads many-flowered, hemispherical or ± campanulate; involucral bracts numerous, herbaceous, imbricate, in 3–many series; receptacle naked, flat to convex. Ray florets absent. Disc florets bisexual, tubular-funnelform, 5-toothed, purple to red. Anthers sagittate at the base. Style branches subulate, hairy.

Achenes obconical, truncate, prominently 4- or 5-ribbed, glandular, with a thickened apical ring; pappus absent.


Distribution and occurrence: World: 10 species, tropical & subtropical Africa, Madagascar, India & South-East Asia. Australia: 1 species (naturalized).
