Description: Shrubs or trees, dioecious.
Leaves toothed to entire.
Flowers unisexual, in short, axillary raceme-like cymes or panicles. Receptacle flat to globose. Perianth segments 6–10, inflexed. Male flowers with numerous stamens, anthers ± sessile. Female flowers with numerous carpels.
Fruiting carpels drupaceous, crowded.
Distribution and occurrence: World: 25 species South-East Asia to Pac.Is, New Zealand, Australia. Australia: 2 species (endemic), Qld, N.S.W., Vic., Tas.
